Securicor introduces new security measures on cash vans
The leading cash-in-transit firm Securicor has introduced new security measures in a bid to prevent future robberies of its vehicles.
The move follows a so-called 'tiger kidnapping' that saw €1.3m stolen from one of the company's security vans in Carlow earlier this week.
The new security measures will see lockers on security vans being controlled only by remote control.
The location of security trucks will also be verified by GPS satellite-tracking before cash can be released.
Meanwhile, the company has also denied claims that the staff involved in Monday's robbery failed to follow the correct procedures.
