Attacks force ex-mayor from home

A former city mayor in the North has been forced from his home after a series of attacks by dissident republicans.

Pat Ramsey is moving his family from their house in Derry’s Bogside following a two-and-a-half-year campaign by renegade paramilitaries.

His home has been repeatedly targeted for 15 petrol bomb attacks as well as hoax alerts.

It is understood that Mr Ramsey, a member of the city’s SDLP, is moving across the River Foyle to live in the predominantly protestant Waterside district.

Mr Ramsey was unavailable for comment today but party sources confirmed the step.
