Plans for a world class recreational trail network in Ireland are to be unveiled today.

Minister for Sport and Tourism John O’Donoghue will launch the strategy for a number of recreational trails across the country.

The blueprint, drawn up by the National Waymarked Way Advisory Committee and the Irish Sports council, follows a major consultation with a number of groups.

It sought the views of government departments, authorities and other stakeholders as part of the process.

It was envisaged that the network of trails would be rolled out over the next few years.

The Irish Trails Strategy will be officially released at the Muckross Park Hotel in Killarney by Mr O’Donoghue.
