McGuinness confident about election prospects in Louth
Fine Gael MEP Mairead McGuinness has said she is confident the party can secure two seats in Louth in the upcoming General Election.
Ms McGuinness confirmed today that she would be seeking election in the constituency alongside sitting Fine Gael TD Fergus O'Dowd and fellow candidate Jim Darcy.
The other three seats in the constituency are filled by Fianna Fáil's Seamus Kirk and Dermot Ahern, and Sinn Féin's Arthur Morgan.
Ms McGuinness says she is anxious to get the election race underway and is confident that her party can retain its current seat and also oust one of the other TDs.
