Green TD slams FG proposal for second Dublin airport
The Green Party has criticised Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny's proposals for a second international airport in Dublin.
Mr Kenny claims a second airport is needed and is proposing the redevelopment of Baldonnel or Weston Aerordrome, or the construction of a brand new facility on a greenfield site.
He says the existing airport should not be allowed to sprawl outwards, as Heathrow in London has.
However, Green Party TD Paul Gogarty says the expansion of the current facility and the construction of proper infrastructure links is the preferred option.
He also says there are major planning issues in relation to Baldonnel and Weston Aerodrome.
