An Ireland-based Iraqi has claimed to have received and sent out the video showing Saddam Hussein's execution.

Latif Yahia, who now lives in Co Offaly, acted as a body double for Saddam's son Uday in the former regime.

Mr Yahia has been living in Daingean for the past 10 years with his Irish wife and children.

He told local radio Midlands 103 he received the controversial camera phone footage in an email from the head of security in Iraq.

"Two hours after the execution I received an email from him saying: 'This is the footage of your dad being hanged, ha, ha, ha."

"Straight away I called a friend in the Al Jazeera channel and told him I had received full footage of the President being hanged and he asked me to send it to him straight away and it was shown as breaking news straight away," said Mr Yahia.
