Gardaí appeal for witnesses in Longford shooting
Gardaí in Longford have appealed for witnesses following the shooting of a young boy and his father in the county.
The man and his six-year-old son remained in hospital this afternoon where they are being treated for their injuries, which are described as not life threatening.
It is believed that the incident is related to a feud within the Travelling community.
Supt John Scanlon of Granard Garda station said today any information would be useful: “This incident occurred just off the public road at Ballynagoshen last night, which is the main Longford Road just outside Edgeworthstown and we would ask anyone who noticed anything suspicious last night to contact the Gardaí in the strictest of confidence.”
