Elderly woman dies in Meath road accident
An 80-year-old woman was killed when she was struck by a car in Co Meath, gardaí said today.
The woman and her elderly sister were hit by the vehicle while crossing the road at Ninch, Coast Road, Laytown, at 6.50pm yesterday.
Both were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where the 80-year-old died late last night.
Her name has not yet been released.
Gardaí at Laytown are appealing for witnesses to the collision to contact Laytown Garda Station on 041 9827074 or Drogheda Station on 041 9874200.
The death brings the total number of road deaths this year to 366.
