Man dies as car hits tree in Co Longford
A driver was killed when his car left the road and hit a tree in Co Longford, gardaí confirmed today.
Officers from Granard Garda Station are investigating the crash, which occurred at 9.30pm last night at Rhine, Killoe in Longford.
The 36-year-old man was alone in the car when it went off the road.
Gardaí said the man was removed to Mullingar Hospital in Westmeath.
The number of people who have died on the country’s roads so far this year has reached 359 – including 168 drivers, 81 passengers, 29 motorcyclists and 69 pedestrians.
