Man questioned over hit-and-run incident in Co Galway

Gardaí in Co Galway have questioned and released a man who turned himself in last night in connection with an alleged hit-and-run in Loughrea on Sunday.

The man presented himself to gardaí last night before being released pending instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The development follows a hit-and-run at around 7pm on Sunday evening when a local woman in her 50s was hit by a vehicle while getting out of her car on Bride Street in Loughrea.

She was seriously hurt in the incident, but her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
