Teenage driver killed as car crashes into Co Kildare canal

A 17-year-old driver has died after crashing his car into a canal in Co Kildare yesterday evening.

The accident happened near Skew Bridge, on the Allenwood to Prosperous Road, at around 6pm.

The teenager was the second person to die on Ireland's roads yesterday following a hit-and-run incident in Tullamore, Co Offaly, that claimed the life of a man in his 30s in the early hours of the morning.
