Arrested man detained in Walsh case
The man arrested by Waterford gardaí in connection with the murder of Meg Walsh has had his period of detention extended.
The 40-year-old was arrested this morning in Waterford City.
Thirty-five-year-old Meg Walsh's body was discovered in the River Suir on Sunday, October 15, two weeks after she was reported missing by her work colleagues at Meadow Court Homes.
She had been last seen leaving the Woodlands Hotel on in the early hours of October 1.
A post mortem revealed she died from trauma injuries to her head and upper body.
Officers arrested the man at a house in Waterford city this morning and brought him to Waterford garda station at Ballybricken for questioning about the murder.
He was arrested under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
