Pensioner killed in crash

An elderly pedestrian has been killed after being struck by a car in Co Sligo.

The collision occurred shortly after 5.30pm on Wednesday at Baltra on the N59, Ballina to Sligo road.

The man was walking near his home when he was hit.

Gardaí from Sligo sealed off the scene and placed diversions in place.
