The Minister for Finance has announced that Special Olympics Ireland will receive a one-off allocation of €2m to help it meet its running costs.

Brian Cowen also announced that sporting bodies covered by Section 235 of the Taxes Consolidation Act will be exempt from paying stamp duty on land purchased for the purposes of promoting games and sport.
