FF's Moynihan: Greencore behaviour obscene
Fianna Fáil TD Michael Moynihan has greeted the announcement by Greencore today of €96.6 million in profits with outrage.
"For Greencore to continue to deny its loyal workers their legitimate redundancy rights with such colossal profits to their credit demonstrates an indefensible greed," said Mr Moynihan.
"I call on Greencore to honour their commitments and shoulder their responsibilities to the employees who have done so much for them. With this much money rolling in, they shouldn't find it difficult.
"Greencore has received massive Government support over the years, and has assets of massive value with which to take its next steps.
"The workers have shown massive loyal and dedication to the company, many of them for decades.
"Greencore's behaviour is obscene," said Mr Moynihan.
"Workers are denied their due compensation, as determined and clarified by the Labour Court , while the company luxuriates with nearly €100m in profit.
"I continue to urge the Government, from the Taoiseach to the Ministers and their Departments, to take every possible action to hold Greencore to its responsibilities.
"And I shall not stop fighting until every possible avenue to correct this outrageous injustice has been thoroughly explored."
