280 jobs axed at electronic plant
Magna Donnelly Electronics in Naas is to cease operations in 2007 with the loss of 280 jobs.
The company, based in Naas, manufactures mirrors for the automotive industry in Europe.
However a combination of declining sales, fierce competition and high manufacturing costs have made the company no longer viable and by the end of 2007 operations will cease.
The decision to close the facility comes after months of evaluating the facilities financial status, operational performances and future products.
The company is now due to enter a 30 day consultation process with its employees
