Book of condolences for slain Lebanese minister

A book of condolence will be opened in Dublin tomorrow for assassinated Lebanese Industry Minister Pierre Gemayel.

Gunmen opened fire on the 34-year-old’s convoy as it drove through a Christian neighbourhood north of Beirut.

The book of condolence will open at 10am tomorrow in the Mansion House and remain open each day between 10am-4pm until Friday.

Condemning the attack, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dermot Ahern said the killing was a further challenge to the legitimate, democratically-elected Government of Lebanon.

“The Government and our EU partners are determined to maintain our support for the Lebanese people and their Government,” he said.
