Gardaí questioning man in Tralee over Wicklow assault

Gardaí in Tralee will this morning resume questioning a 26-year-old man in connection with a vicious assault on a young woman in the Wicklow mountains during the early hours of Sunday morning.

Officers from Shankill in Dublin travelled to Tralee, Co Kerry yesterday to arrest the man.

The 22-year-old victim was tied up and beaten about the head and body in the back of a car near Glencree.

The woman is being treated for her injuries at Tallaght General Hospital, where she remains badly traumatised by the incident.
