A Dublin woman has sustained serious spinal injuries in Edinburgh after she was struck on the head with a traffic cone.

A Dublin woman has sustained serious spinal injuries in Edinburgh after she was struck on the head with a traffic cone.

The incident occurred in the early hours of yesterday morning. It is understood the plastic road marker was thrown from a bridge in the city centre.

A spokesman for the British Health Service has confirmed that 23-year-old Kate Flannery is now in a stable condition.

An investigation is underway.
