Woman shot dead in front of children in north Dublin

A 35-year-old woman is dead following a shooting in Swords in Dublin last night.

The shooting happened at around 10pm at Hollywell Square.

It is believed the woman may have been gunned down in front of her children.

This morning the body remains at the scene. The area has been sealed off and a garda investigation is underway.

The State Pathologist's Office has been informed and a post mortem will be carried out later today.

It is the 19th fatal shooting so far this year, and follows last week's gangland-style killing on Clonliffe Avenue in North Dublin.
