Families of UVF victims in Westminster to seek new inquiry

The families of six Co Down men murdered by loyalist paramilitaries 12 years ago are meeting British politicians in Westminster today as part of their campaign for a new inquiry into the killings.

The six men were shot dead by the UVF at a pub in Loughinisland while watching Ireland play Italy in the 1994 World Cup.

Their families believe the police colluded with the gang who carried out the machine-gun attack and failed to properly investigate the case.

Nobody has ever been convicted of the murders and it has recently transpired that the car used by the killers was disposed of by the police, even though it was a vital piece of evidence.
