A search is underway in Waterford Harbour for a fisherman who fell overboard from his vessel last night.

A search is underway in Waterford Harbour for a fisherman who fell overboard from his vessel last night.

The operation was mounted just before midnight after the Coastguard received a mayday signal from the Boyne Harvester around three kms off Creadan Head.

The missing fisherman is believed to be in his 50s and from the Dunmore East area.

A rescue helicopter, a number of lifeboats and several private vessels are all taking part in this morning's search.

The sea shore is also being searched, while naval divers have are expected to join the operation later today.
