The state should have bought a controversial site for Mountjoy Jail in a more business-like manner, the Dáil’s spending watchdog heard today.

The Comptroller & Auditor General said that advertisements in the national media inflated the price of the €29.9m parcel of land at Thornton Hall, Co Dublin.
