The North scraps academic selection ban

The 11-Plus selection process has gone for good in the North, Peter Hain insisted today.

In the wake of Democratic Unionist claims that they had secured the future of academic selection and grammar schools in the province at the St Andrews talks, the Northern Ireland Secretary said it was important that people understood what had been agreed.
