Ben Dunne facing tribunal quiz about Cargobridge loan
Businessman Ben Dunne and Fianna Fáil TD GV Wright are due before the Mahon Tribunal this morning to answer questions in relation to the rezoning of land near Dublin Airport.
The tribunal is currently investigating claims by former lobbyist Frank Dunlop that he bribed a number of councillors in return for their support on the rezoning of land owned by the Cargo Bridge consortium.
Last week, it heard how Mr Dunne had arranged a £185,000 loan to allow Ciaran Haughey and his business partner to buy into the consortium.
Meanwhile Fianna Fáil TD Noel Treacy is also due before the tribunal this morning in relation to the Irish Times coverage of payments made to the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, in the 1990s.
The inquiry has already referred the newspaper to the High Court for failing to disclose the source of tribunal documents that led to the publication of the story.
