CORI seeks Budget measures to help less well-off
The Conference of Religious in Ireland is calling on the Government to introduce more measures to help the less well-off in this December's Budget.
The organisation says the last two budgets have been steps in the right direction and there are massive resources available to continue in the same direction this year.
It is calling for a €20 increase in the basic social welfare payments, as well as funding to provide an extra 9,000 social houses next year.
CORI is also seeking measures in the areas of education, health and adult literacy, as well as a fairer tax system to reduce the burden on the less well-off.
