Restrictions on free travel scheme abolished from today

Holders of free travel passes for public transport will be able to use bus services without any peak-time restrictions from today.

Until now, the passes could not be used between 7am and 9am and between 4.30pm and 6.30pm on Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann services.

However, this restriction has now been abolished by Minister for Social and Family Affairs Seamus Brennan.

The move will see the cost of the free travel scheme increase by up to €2m a year.
