Immigration has led to significant benefits, says report
The arrival of large numbers of immigrants in recent years has led to significant benefits, according to a new report published today.
The report from the National Economic and Social Council says the proportion of foreign nationals in Ireland has reached the same levels as other advanced countries in just a few short years.
It says this has led to huge benefits like increased economic activity, enhanced skills and a widening in the range of available services.
However, the NESC is also warning that failure to properly integrate new immigrants into society will threaten the country's long-term cohesion.
