The Irish Congress of Trade Unions has formally requested that the Energy Regulator rescind the recent 20% hike in electricity prices.

In a letter dispatched to chair of the commission for Energy Regulation Tom Reeves, the general secretary of congress, David Begg formally requested that consideration be given to replacing the 20% hike with a "fuel variation charge".
