Body recovered by searchers off west Cork coast

A body, believed to be that of Jonathan Herlihy, has been recovered from a beach in west Cork.

The 22-year-old had been missing since last Sunday when he and another man entered the water near Owenahincha beach to rescue a couple who were in trouble.

The couple managed to get to safety but their rescuers were washed out to sea.

Searches of the coastline around the area have been ongoing.

The body of the other man, 36-year-old Peter O’Keeffe, was recovered during the week.
