IMPACT to discuss withdrawing decentralisation support
The IMPACT trade union is gathering today to discuss the possibility of withdrawing its support for the decentralisation process.
The union has accused Junior Minister Tom Parlon of reneging on job security commitments he gave to staff at the Office of Public Works.
IMPACT says Mr Parlon promised that staff who did not wish to relocate to Trim in Co Meath could continue to do their existing jobs or would be given other suitable work within the OPW.
However, it says he later informed the union that the staff would be given new posts outside the OPW.
IMPACT says it has been supportive of decentralisation so far, but could withdraw this support if the Government does not clear up the uncertainty.
