Taxi Regulator declines to address protesting drivers

The Taxi Regulator Ger Deering has said that he will not address the convoy of protesting taxi drivers who arrived at his office this lunchtime.

However, Mr Deering said he has always made himself available to meet with union representatives in the past and is willing to do so again.

Up to 1,000 drivers drove in convoy to his office on Fitzwilliam Square after meeting in the Phoenix Park this morning.

The action was part of their half-day work stoppage which ended at 1pm in protest at proposed changes to their rates and work practices.
