A 16-year-old girl is recovering in hospital after she was injured in a shooting in the Roxboro area of Limerick this morning.

A 16-year-old girl is recovering in hospital after she was injured in a shooting in the Roxboro area of Limerick this morning.

The circumstances are still unclear, but the teenager is understood to have suffered wounds to her upper body during the shooting in Crecora Avenue just after 5.30am.

She was taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital, but her injuries are not life-threatening.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and say it is too early to speculate about the motive for the attack.
