Murdered DUP man 'was active paramilitary' - magazine

A UVF magazine is claiming that a controversial DUP politician murdered by the INLA 19 years ago was also an active loyalist paramilitary.

George Seawright, a councillor with a reputation as an outspoken loyalist, once proclaimed himself proud to be a bigot and was unapologetic after saying Catholics and their priests should be incinerated.

He was eventually disciplined by the DUP after intense political pressure, but Ian Paisley attended his funeral in 1987.

The UVF magazine has now published claims that he was a volunteer in the Belfast battalion of the notorious loyalist paramilitary group.
