Nursing body seeks €16m funding

The statutory body that regulates the nursing profession in Ireland is seeking funding of more than €16m to buy new offices.

The Government today issued a tender notice on behalf of an Bord Altranais seeking investors to provide a bridging loan of €9m-€10m for a six month period or longer.

It is envisaged that the money will be paid back when the Bord sells a section of its current offices on Fitzwilliam Square in central Dublin.

The body is also seeking €6m-€7m of capital for a period of 20 years.

The deadline for receiving expressions of interest is 5pm on Friday, September 1.

The tender notice added: “The Bord is engaging in an accelerated negotiated procedure and intend to meet directly with interested parties as soon as possible after the closing date on this notice.”

An Bord Altranais was established by the Nurses Act, 1985.

Today’s tender notice added: “The Bord has an agreement in principle to purchase alternative offices subject to contract.

“The Bord owns current property at 31/32 Fitzwilliam Square, Dublin 2 and it is intended to dispose of this property at some point after the purchase of the Bord’s new premises is completed.”
