Man held in relation to cocaine haul
A man was arrested in Co Cork today after drugs were seized following a major surveillance operation.
Gardaí estimated a cache of cocaine with a street value of more than €200,000 was discovered at around 8am in Little Island in the county.
A garda spokesman said: “The cocaine, depending on analysis, could be worth €200,000.”
The seizure followed a surveillance operation by members from Middleton, officers from the Garda National Drug unit and members of the Customs National Drug Unit.
One man was arrested and a quantity of cocaine was seized.
The man was detained at Cobh Garda Station under Section Two of the Drug Trafficking Act. He can be held for up to seven days.
