Junior Transport Minister Pat 'The Cope' Gallagher today urged motorists to slow down and be vigilant on the roads over the Bank Holiday weekend.

He warned that Gardaí will be out in force carrying out random breath tests under new powers given them under the recently-amended Road Traffic Act.

Gallagher said he believes the vast majority of people support these new laws, and if motorists drink and drive they will have to face tough consequences.
