A controversy has erupted in Co Wicklow over plans to remove 70ft of rock from the peak of Arklow Rock.

The issue is due to be discussed at a special meeting of Wicklow County Council tomorrow.

Green Party councillor Deirdre de Burca is calling on the council to seek a High Court injunction preventing the work from going ahead.

The area in question has been proposed as an area of outstanding natural beauty in the county's development plan and Ms de Burca says the quarry firm Roadstone has not gone through the proper planning procedures.
