The Archbishop of Dublin has called on the Government to remind the protagonists in the Middle East conflict of the need to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure.

Dr Diarmuid Martin will make his plea in a homily at the Pro-Cathedral in the capital this evening.

With more Irish are due to arrive back in Dublin today from Lebanon, Dr Martin says his thoughts are with those who remain.

Meanwhile, the Irish Lebanese Cultural Foundation held a two-minute silence for the victims in the city's Garden of Remembrance this afternoon.
