The ESB has said it is expecting the energy regulator to approve an increase of between 10% and 20% in the price of electricity later this year, despite a massive increase in profits in 2005.

The ESB has said it is expecting the energy regulator to approve an increase of between 10% and 20% in the price of electricity later this year, despite a massive increase in profits in 2005.

The regulator is due to make a decision on the issue in late September, with price increases highly likely to be linked to the spiralling international cost of oil and gas.
