Post mortem to be carried out on body found in Cobh

Gardaí in Co Cork are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman whose body was found yesterday afternoon during a search for a missing Cobh teenager.

The body was discovered in undergrowth behind the Pirates rugby club in the Newtown area by gardaí searching for missing 19-year-old Sheola Keaney.

The body is understood to have been partially covered in sheeting and hidden in the undergrowth.

Gardaí say they are treating the death as suspicious and a post mortem will be carried out later today.

They say the woman's identity will not be confirmed until then.

In the meantime, detectives are still appealing for information about Ms Keaney, who was last seen walking near the Rushbrook area of Cobh at around 10am on Friday morning.
