Two arrested in international drugs operation
At least two Irish people have been arrested in a drugs operation involving police in Britain and Spain.
The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed that embassies in London and Madrid had alerted them that at least two Irish people had been arrested.
It is understood the operation was led in Britain by the Serious Organised Crime Agency.
Reports indicated that more than 800kg of cocaine were seized when two yachts moored off Ibiza and the Costa Blanca were stormed by armed officers yesterday morning.
The drugs were found below the decks of the yachts.
Police in Liverpool, meanwhile, raided four homes as part of the same investigation.
In total, nine people are in custody.
