O’Dea reduces defence forces minimum height requirement

The minimum height requirement for entering the defence forces has been reduced in an effort to entice more women to join up.

The minimum height requirement for entering the defence forces has been reduced in an effort to entice more women to join up.

Minister for Defence Willie O'Dea said today that the limit will decrease from 5'-4'' to 5'-2'' from September.

Minister O'Dea said that he hopes this will boost the number of women serving in the army, navy and air corps.
