Ireland facing EU action over driver compensation laws

The European Commission has announced its intention to refer Ireland to the European Court of Justice over its rules on compensation for uninsured drivers.

At present, Irish law excludes any compensation payments from the Irish Insurance Bureau to motorists in accidents where all the vehicles involved are uninsured.
