Teenager arrested in kidnap probe released

The second teenager arrested in connection with the alleged kidnap and assault of a Brazilian-born teenager in south Dublin has been released without charge.

The victim, 14-year-old Gilmar Mandiangu, claims he was was lured away from playing football with his friends and into a neighbour’s house in Tallaght where he was locked inside by a gang, treated like a slave and ordered around at gunpoint.

He told gardaí one of the youths shot him in the eye with an airgun when he refused to kiss their feet.

The horrific incident, which happened on Wednesday, was recorded on a mobile phone.

Gardaí searched the house where the attack is said to have taken place and uncovered a number of weapons.

Three people were initially arrested and the first was released on Thursday. The second youth was freed last night.

A garda spokesman said a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
