Murder inquiry launched after assault victim dies

Gardaí in Dublin have launched a murder investigation following the death of a 27-year-old who was assaulted in Dublin city centre at the weekend.

Alan Barber, from Lucan, was attacked across from the GPO on O'Connell St in the early hours of Sunday morning and died from head injuries in Beaumont Hospital last night.
