No major injuries following Kilkenny hotel fire

The fire service has brought a blaze at a Kilkenny City hotel under control earlier this evening.

The fire service has brought a blaze at a Kilkenny City hotel under control earlier this evening.

The fire broke out at Hotel Kilkenny just before 5pm and evacuation procedures were instigated.

The fire service said the blaze had the potential to be very serious, but that they managed to contain it to the Orchard Suite Area of the Hotel.

It's understood that only minor injuries such as smoke inhalation were sustained. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Hotel Kilkenny recently re-opened after a €16m refurbishment.
