The Sunday Business Post says the number of senior HSE staff earning more than €75,000 a year has almost doubled in the year from January 2005 to the beginning of 2006.

The Health Services Executive said that many managers progressed onto the higher wage scale because of a pay rise under the Sustaining Progress agreement.
