A young man and woman have died in a drowning incident in Co Cork, gardaí confirmed tonight.
The bodies of the man and woman, believed to be in their early 20s, were taken from the Awbeg River in Castletownroche late this afternoon.
A garda spokesman said the incident was believed to be an accidental drowning.
The bodies of the pair, who have yet to be named, were spotted in the river by a canoeist and removed by the fire service.
Gardaí said a search of the river was launched after the discovery.

Another young man, Aidan McDonnell, 25, from Kilfian, Ballina Co Mayo drowned yesterday after a punt he had taken onto the River Moy with a friend overturned.
