Road deaths toll now at 168
The number of deaths on Irish roads so far this year has reached 168.
The latest victim was a motorcyclist, killed in Co Louth last night when he was hit by a car at a crossroad.
Gardaí are investigating the accident at Green Gates, on the old Dundalk to Drogheda Road at 8.10pm. The male driver of the car was also seriously injured and is in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.
A second motorcyclist died and his pillion passenger was seriously injured when they hit a horse at Kilmeaden, Tramore, Co Waterford, shortly after 6.30pm yesterday. The dead man is in his 50s. His passenger is in hospital.
A man killed in an accident at Kilshanny, Co Clare, on Monday, has been named as Michael Nagle, 59, of Liscannor in the county.
A total of 160 people were killed in road accidents up to the same period last year.
